Dewey and I enjoyed the ‘Director
and Volunteer Appreciation Day’ on Friday, January
1, 2010. It was a great day, great targets, great
people and some great chili and cornbread, too! We
have officially turned the reigns over to the new
board as of January 1, 2010 and will stepping away
from club operations for awhile. Of course, we will
be around to support the club events and help out
throughout the year. I will also continue to be the
coach for the youth team in 2010 and will oversee
the trap and skeet Range Safety Officer Program.
Dewey and I have been on the board and active
volunteers since 2000 and 2002, respectively. Dewey
served as club president in 2005 and 2006 and I’ve
been the club’s president since 2007. It’s pretty
cool to look back over the last few years and see
what has been accomplished at the club. We’ve had
some pretty amazing and dedicated board members and
club members who have volunteered their time, energy
and resources to the club. We’ve also had the
support of many local businesses,

including Les
Schwab Tires as our youth team sponsor. We started
the Shotgun Showdown in 2005 - partnering with the
Provo Gun Club and Sportsman’s Warehouse - and it
continues to be one of our “funnest” events of the
year. We’ve been lucky to have Louise Ekenstam-Bradshaw
and Company come instruct for our fabulously
successful ladies clinics since 2002. We are also very grateful for the
support we have received from John Fairchild at the
Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and Mike Kohler
of Wasatch County. We’ve also had a great youth team
whose parents have been very helpful and supportive
for the past three years. We are also privileged to
have been a part of the many upgrades to the club in
the past few years. We now have five trap houses
with automatic throwers and three houses are also
equipped with voice release systems. A new skeet
field has been installed along with new lighting
systems on two trap fields and the skeet field. The
bathrooms and the kitchen area have been remodeled
and the trap houses and lanes have been repaired,
repainted and well maintained. We’ve become known
for helping new and novice shooters - with our youth
team, ladies clinics, open houses, scout and church
groups and individual and group lessons we offer.
Dewey and I have enjoyed the ride! And now we are
very excited to be turning the reigns over to an
awesome board of directors who are as dedicated and
passionate about the club as we have been.
Sincerely,
Wendy & Dewey Mair
